Dunedin, FL. Ah, summer, when a Professional Organizer’s thoughts turn to celebrating graduations, and catching up on their summer reading. And to taking the Certified Professional Organizer® (CPO®) Exam, right? June is one of the test windows offered by the Board of Certification for Professional Organizers (BCPO®), and the perfect time to celebrate your own achievement in passing the CPO® examination.
“If you’ve ever thought of taking the CPO® certification examination, take a look at the recommended reading list on the BCPO® website,” advises Audrey Lavine, CPO® and President of the BCPO®, the self-governing, independent certifying body formed to recognize and raise industry standards, practices and ethics through independent certification. “You may find you’ve read more of it than you think. And if you have, why not take the exam now?”
In any industry, professional certification is valuable. “Being certified gives me additional credibility with my clients as they become more aware of our industry. Being certified enables me to differentiate myself from my peers in an ever-increasing competitive market,” says Karon van Vuuren, CPO®, Kapela Solutions, and one of the inaugural class of CPOs in 2007.
Anyone who meets the specific minimum criteria, and proves through examination and client interaction that they possess the body of knowledge and experience required for certification, can earn the CPO® designation. For example, management and life coaches, those who work with individuals with ADD/ADHD, senior move managers, records managers and other related specialists may qualify.
For more information on the BCPO®, the CPO® designation, including requirements to sit for the examination and to find a CPO®in your area, contact 1-800-556-0484 or visit www.certifiedprofessionalorganizers.org.
